Company in discussions on possible takeover of substantial part of Irish construction materials business
BREEDON, the UK’s largest independent construction materials group, have confirmed that they are in talks regarding the possible acquisition of all or a significant part of the Lagan Group, one of the largest privately owned companies in Ireland.
In a statement issued today, the company said: ‘Breedon notes that it regularly engages with companies in its sector and it can confirm that it is in discussions with Lagan and its major shareholders in connection with a possible acquisition of a substantial part of the Lagan business.
‘There can be no certainty that the possible acquisition will proceed, nor as to the terms of the possible acquisition. A further announcement will be made as appropriate.’
Belfast-based Lagan is a market-leading construction materials business employing more than 1,000 people with a turnover in excess of £350 million.
