Bobcat launch latest 3-tonne minis

According to Bobcat, their newest 3-tonne mini-excavators – the 3.2-tonne E32 (tail swing) and 3.5-tonne E35 (zero tail swing) models – offer smooth and precise workgroup control, excellent hydraulic performance, enhanced operator comfort and convenience, and increased reliability.

For smoothness and optimized hydraulic performance, the machines’ load sense piston pump and closed centre valve provides the fine metering of hydraulic flow for smooth, precise control of functions, while reducing hydraulic noise.

The boom and dipper arm cylinders are cushioned to provide a smooth, ‘end of stroke’ operation, while a thumb-operated boom offset control, located on the left joystick, offers improved control of the boom swing function, as well as giving more floor space for the driver (in contrast to the pedal controls used on many excavators in the three tonne class).

Another key feature of the new minis is the auto-shift travel motor, which allows automatic transition from a low to high speed range or vice versa.

The E32 and E35 also offer the latest comfort, visibility and space standards from Bobcat. The spacious canopy and cab gives the operator a very comfortable working environment with heating and ventilation as standard, and air-conditioning as an option.

The machines’ engine, air-intake, cooling and exhaust systems, and hydraulic pump/valve have been designed to offer an operator noise level of 78dBA and bystander noise of 94dBA.

Bobcat say that the boom of the E32 and E25 minis consists of a ‘4-plate box design’ with internal gussets that reduces the weight yet provides a stronger, more durable and reliable structure, delivering increased lift capacity and smoother machine operation.

The company also say the design of the hydraulic components and routing of the hydraulic hoses and connections, combined with improved assembly procedures, significantly reduces the possibility of hydraulic leaks through increased quality and reliability.

For example, Quicklock snap-to-connect fittings for connections to the valve block ports reduce stress on the fittings as they exit the valve, further reducing the chance of leaks. In addition, Quicklock fittings generate less heat compared with 90° fittings, thereby lowering the cooling requirements of the machine.

The undercarriages of the E32 and E35 mini-excavators feature sealed, maintenance-free track rollers, top rollers and wide sprockets, providing high resilience and a long service life. Also, the ‘open’ design and sloped surfaces of the X-frame undercarriage help prevent the build up of mud and debris, reducing the time and effort required to clean the machine.
