Blue Group and ZenRobotics join forces in the UK

Blue to incorporate ZenRobotics waste sorting equipment into their recycling plants

BLUE Group have signed a UK and Ireland distribution agreement with ZenRobotics, suppliers of highly advanced robotic waste sorting equipment. Under the terms of the agreement, Blue will also incorporate the ZenRobotics Recycler (ZRR) into their recycling facilities which are designed by BlueMAC, the plant manufacturing division of the company.

Once incorporated into a recycling plant, ZRR is designed to recognize and recover materials such as wood, stone and rigid plastic fractions from mixed C&D and C&I waste streams. The system is said to use artificial intelligence technology in both identifying the valuable raw materials in the waste and in controlling the robot’s adaptive picking motions.

With two robotic arms, ZRR can make up to 4,000 picks per hour – increasing recycling efficiency, reducing manual labour and minimizing operational costs.

Blue Group director, Eugene Donnelly, commented: ‘ZRR technology is the future for waste plants and we are delighted to be working with a world leader. The technology is almost three times quicker than a human, more accurate and can work over multiple shifts, which will ultimately save a company money over the long term.’
