Bespoke Volvo trucks

Specialist bulk haulage contractors Monary Ltd of Hull have taken delivery of two Volvo A30D articulated dumptrucks following a deal concluded at last year’s Hillhead exhibition.

The trucks are working on a long-term contract moving up to 9,000 tonnes of material in a 12h shift, seven-days-a-week operation at one of Hull’s largest coal terminals. The trucks have been modified with the addition of factory-fitted bolt-on side extensions that increase the body height by 750mm, allowing them to carry 30m3 of heaped material.

Monary previously used redundant road-going tractor and trailer units but as safety on site had become a primary concern, and they needed to increase productivity, they decided they could no longer run old and potentially unsafe equipment.
