Bardon Contracting achieve IIP Gold

BARDON Contracting have become one of the first construction companies to be recognized as a Gold Standard Investor In People (IIP). With less than 1% of the 35,000 IIP-recognized organizations in the UK having achieved the gold status, Bardon say the award sets the company apart from its competitors.

Part of Aggregate Industries UK, Bardon Contracting achieved the gold status following independent assessment of their 1,000-strong workforce, based across the UK on both transient sites and in fixed office locations. The assessor was said to be impressed with the improvements, dedication and consistency demonstrated across the business.

Since gaining IIP status in 2003, Bardon Contracting say they have achieved significant business improvements, with turnover up by more than 200% and a reduction in staff churn, absence and sickness rates to well below national construction industry averages.

Employees have also reported improvements and benefits from working for Bardon Contracting in annual surveys.

Jane Jones, acting chief executive for Investors in People UK, said: ‘Gold represents achievement of world-class best practice. Being awarded Investors in People Gold status shows that Bardon Contracting are a truly cutting-edge organization operating at the very highest levels of people management practice, using IIP to drive the business forward.’

Mike Archer, national contracting director at Bardon Contracting, added: ‘Our business is driven by the people in it and the support the business provides for them. To have this support recognized as world-class best practice sets us apart from our peers as the only company in our sector to have achieved a gold award.

‘It is yet another award that we can all be proud of, and I look forward to seeing what improvements and success we can achieve in the future.’
