Warwickshire-based Apple Construction Training takes delivery of new Volvo DD25w double drum roller

TRAINING provider Apple Construction Training have strengthened their equipment fleet with the addition of a Volvo DD25w tandem roller for use at their academy in Fenny Compton, Warwickshire.

Established in 2009, Apple Construction offer a full range of training courses covering CPCS training and testing on all plant categories. In order to provide a comprehensive training service, the company has a mixture of owned equipment and machines on long-term hire, and up until recently received the Volvo DD25w roller on lease.

‘We were persuaded to opt for the Volvo roller thanks to the operating lease promotional offer made by local Volvo CE utility dealer SM Plant Ltd,’ said Kim Bendzak, managing director of Apple Construction. She also added that her company will be making a saving of around £40 per week leasing the machine rather than hiring it.

The 2.6-tonne Volvo DD25w double drum compactor features a drum width of 1,200mm, with dual frequencies operating at either 55Hz or 67Hz for optimal impact, and delivering nominal amplitude of 53mm.

A pressurized water feed system is directed via four nozzles per drum working in conjunction with spring loaded, self-adjusting urethane wipers. The DD25w roller offers a high level of visibility to the drum edges – forward and backward – for the operator.

The machined drum surface with radiused and chamfered edges helps produce a high-quality finish on each job, while a closed-loop hydrostatic drive system provides seamless direction changes and a maximum speed of up to 10km/h.

A large 260-litre capacity water tank, collapsible ROPS frame, working lights and beacon are all standard on the DD25w roller.
