Atlas Copco QES generators for Pump Power Rental
Company expanding into the generator-hire market with substantial purchase of Atlas Copco generators
PUMP Power Rental, the pump and power solution providers, are expanding into the generator-hire market – a move marked by an initial purchase of a substantial number of Atlas Copco’s QES professional rental-specification generating sets, ranging from 20 to 100kVA.
David Berry, managing director of Pump Power Rental, said: ‘Pump Power will be offering a UK-wide generator rental service, and we have facilitated this by selecting Atlas Copco as our supplier.
‘Our decision was based on our recognition of Atlas Copco as a trusted global brand. In particular, we have chosen products from their QES range of generators, as this is generally accepted as the premier brand available in the UK rental market today.’
Designed with the end customer in mind, Atlas Copco say the QES range is easy to move, operate and service, fulfilling Pump Power’s ambition to provide general construction and rental users with a practical and trusted power solution for the toughest work sites.
The QES range has undergone an extensive design and testing procedure to ensure resilience against even the harshest weather. The secure, corrosion-proof canopy repels all liquids, including heavy rainfall, and also performs in extreme heat. Another key design element is ease of operation, giving the generator plug-and-power capability and allowing easy start-up.
Powered by the latest EU stage 3A diesel engines, the generators’ high rental specification also includes a Deep Sea control panel, a galvanized skid base, and a three-way fuel valve.
Standard QES range features include manual start controllers on many models, a spillage-free frame with integrated forklift slots and lifting beams, external drain points and large doors for easy access during servicing. Among the options available are a battery charger and cut-off switch, external fuel-tank connection and cold-start functionality.
Safety features on the QES range include a 4-pole main circuit breaker, earth leakage circuit protection and earth pin, a dedicated socket compartment and emergency stop. In addition, the rugged, sound-attenuated, galvanized steel enclosure helps reduce noise levels, whilst the system is kept clean with a dual-stage, heavy-duty air filter with safety cartridge, and a dual-stage fuel filter with water separator.
The QES sets are ultra-compact, thereby simplifying truck loading and storage, and can be brought on line quickly; they deliver stable power within 10 seconds of start-up and can withstand a 100% load step. Moreover, they can run continuously for up to 500h before requiring a 2h service interval.
Paul Webster, product specialist for generators and lighting at Atlas Copco Power Technique in the UK, commented: ‘We are delighted to win this first order from Pump Power Rental and support their expansion plans for the UK’s generator hire market.’
Meanwhile, Pump Power Rental have also invested in Atlas Copco dewatering pumps, with purchases of both PAS diesel centrifugal pumps and WEDA electric submersible pumps.
The second-generation PAS units that have joined Pump Power’s fleet consist of a centrifugal pump and SuperDuo separator, which allows air to be separated from the liquid and sucked by a vacuum pump – making automatic priming possible. Due to a semi-open impeller, pumps in the PAS range are also suitable for pumping solids in suspension, making them particularly useful for rental work as they suit a wide variety of pump applications.
To accompany the PAS diesel pumps, Pump Power Rental have also added a selection of WEDA electric submersible pumps to their growing fleet. WEDA pumps are designed to handle liquid with abrasive particles and feature a built-in starter and motor-protection system.
