Another ‘first’ for Philip Brain Associates

Ronez workers gain Level 2 NVQ in Plant Operations (Extractives – Truck Mounted Boom Concrete Pumps)

MARK Nicholls, Steven King and Michael Ogier of Ronez Ltd, in the Channel Islands, have become the first candidates to receive Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) certification for the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Operations (Extractives - Truck Mounted Boom Concrete Pumps) (QCF).

These new qualifications were developed by MPQC due to client demand from Ronez, part of Aggregate Industries, to standardize their qualifications and measurable levels of competence across the business.

Philip Brain said: ‘It is great to see a company taking a proactive approach to training and competence, especially here in the Channel Islands where legislative demands are different from the rest of the UK. It is always exciting to be at the vanguard of qualification delivery and these candidates can be rightly proud as the first to achieve these new awards.’

As well as being experts in vocational qualification delivery, Philip Brain Associates Ltd provide vocational competence consultancy and assessment to a number of major UK quarrying companies.

This activity has included writing and amending the National Occupational Standards for Quarrying Health, Safety & Environmental Management qualifications, at the request of the Institute of Quarrying, which later went on to become NVQs at levels 3, 4 and 5.

In 2002 Philip Brain Associates became an MPQC (formerly EMP & EPIC) approved centre to deliver qualifications within the sector, and in 2010 Channel Island Assessments was launched by the business to deliver sector-specific qualifications overseas.
