Abba Commercials get a lift with Edbro cylinders

Edbro tipping cylinder

Edbro supply 60 new tipping cylinders for plant hire company vehicles

L. Lynch Plant Hire offer both on- and off-highway vehicle rental and have now specified over 90 new vehicles with Edbro cylinders in the last 12 months. Abba Commercials have been the supplier for most of these vehicles and were happy to support the recommendation to use Edbro products due to the company’s reputation for ‘fit-and-forget’ reliability and quality.

The rapidly expanding L. Lynch Plant Hire fleet includes cranes, diggers, grab lorries and aggregate delivery trucks. The company regularly invests in new plant to ensure that their UK vehicle portfolio remains one of the most comprehensive, reliable and efficient available. Aware of the harsh operating conditions that their vehicles will be subjected to, the company specifies only the most reliable components.

Raj Nawag, senior operating manager for L. Lynch, commented: ‘Our customers are often working to tight deadlines. They can’t afford to lose even a day due to a failure on one of our vehicles; this is why we keep our fleet modern, with regular investment. It also means that we are sure to specify components that can be trusted to survive. In the last year we have specified over 90 Edbro tipping cylinders as in our opinion they deliver the quality and reliability that we need.’

For the standard aggregate delivery trucks Edbro have delivered their tried and tested CX15 cylinder. The CX series features a fully integrated ram and tank design that is suited to rigid trucks and offers weight savings of up to 230kg per tip on standard competitor products. It features an extremely quick tipping action that offers a nominal lift capacity of 32 tonnes. Its weight saving and speed qualities ensures that operators can increase their payload as well as the number of ‘tips-per-day’.

L. Lynch also stocks grab lorries, which offer self-loading capabilities. Due to the location of the grabber, tipping cylinders for these vehicles need to be located underneath the body of the vehicle; for these vehicles Edbro have supplied their TS26 cylinders. The twin underfloor hoists are designed for six- and eight-wheel trucks that need increased stability and capacity over smaller vehicles. The cylinders offer 20% more lift capacity – up to 26 tonnes - than their closest competitor and an average tipping speed of just 13 seconds.

The vehicles were designed and built by Abba Commercials, who specialize in building high-spec, lightweight vehicles that offer users the highest levels of operational efficiency available. Abba have worked closely with Edbro in the past so are well aware of the reliability that their products offer.

Richard Neary, co-owner of Abba Commercials, said: ‘When L. Lynch approached us with a large order for new tipping vehicles in November we were aware that they expected high-quality components to be fitted as standard. We suggested Edbro tipping cylinders, which was instantly met with approval due to their past experiences with Edbro products.’

Phil Griffiths, northern sales manager for Edbro, added: ‘When Abba placed the order with us for 60 tipping cylinders they explained that the customer was aware of our reputation. Haulage is all about margins and we know that light-weight, reliable components can mean the difference between profit and loss.’
