ABB-Dodge to show easy maintenance bearings at Hillhead 2012

Dodge bearings

Products designed to help cut lost production time and reduce maintenance time to feature on ABB-Dodge stand

ABB-Dodge will be showing their range of maintenance-friendly bearings on stand G12 at this year’s International Quarrying and Recycling show.

To help companies facing squeezed maintenance budgets, ABB-Dodge will show a number of products designed to help cut lost production time and reduce maintenance time, saving money at this year’s Hillhead exhibition.

Bearing products on show will include Dodge-mounted ball bearings that feature an enhanced patent rubber-lipped flinger seal for longer life, along with snap-in end covers.

ABB-Dodge will have a hands-on area where visitors can see how easy it is to fit the Dodge ISN bearing unit and ABB-Dodge Grip Tight. The Dodge ISN unit is a SN Plummer block. With a greased shaft ready to use, it can be mounted and demounted in 15 minutes, with no seizing on to the shaft.

The ABB-Dodge Grip Tight mounted ball bearing unit prevents shaft damage and incorporates a patent-pending removal system that cuts costs by reducing disassembly time and shaft maintenance. The integrated bearing puller makes for easy disassembly, reducing the time to remove a bearing and install a new one. Sealing arrangements on both products give longer bearing life, reducing down time.

Among other products being demonstrated at the show will be the ABB-Dodge Quantis gear reducer range, which features the IEC motor clamp collar input flange. The demonstration will show how just one man can change the motor without disturbing the Quantis Gear reducer by simply undoing the motor flange bolts and clamp collar to replace with a new motor, saving time and keeping lost production to a minimum.

Quantis includes a full line of modular gear drives engineered for flexibility, greater torque density in a compact housing design and increased power capabilities.

ABB-Dodge will also show the Dodge TA11 shaft-mounted speed reducer. With its patented taper bushing system making fitting and removal much faster, there is no fretting and seizing on to shafts and no need for pullers or cutting torch.

As well as the MagnaGear XTR reducer designed to meet the needs of high-torque applications, there will also be demonstrations of ABB-Dodge’s range of drives and process performance high-efficiency motors which, together with Dodge bearings, form a complete drive-chain solution for quarrying and recycling applications.
