Health & Safety Laboratory running two ‘HSE Inspectors’ Guide to…’ training courses in May 2016

THE Health & Safety Laboratory (HSL) will be running two training workshops at its laboratory in Buxton, Derbyshire, on 20 May 2016.

The first workshop, ‘HSE Inspectors’ Guide to Electrical Safety’, will be delivered by a former specialist electrical inspector with extensive industry experience.

The workshop will give participants a practical understanding of what Health and Safety Executive (HSE) inspectors are looking for in the control of general electrical safety risks.

Attendees will review known high-risk electrical safety issues together with the appropriate controls, based on the HSE’s investigation experiences, and gain an understanding of the practical application of the HSE’s Enforcement Management Model.

The second workshop, ‘HSE Inspectors’ Guide to Improvement and Prohibition Notices’, delivered by a senior HSE inspector with more than 25 years’ experience, will provide attendees with a rare opportunity to understand the regulator by seeing the world through an inspector’s eyes.

Participants will learn why, when and how HSE takes formal enforcement action, how to influence formal HSE decisions, and how to respond to receipt of a notice.
