HANSON Cement have appointed Robert Keough as technical development manager based at their site in Ketton, Rutland.

Mr Keough has two years’ experience as an engineer in training with Hanson UK’s parent company, HeidelbergCement Group, during which time he worked in the continuous improvement team where he focused on reducing costs and increasing operational performance across the aggregates business.

His experience prior to this included working at the financial services company Hargreaves Lansdown and an industrial placement with Pfizer Ltd.

Mr Keough (pictured) has a first-class honours degree in chemistry with management from the University of Bath, and gained a distinction for his master’s in minerals engineering at the University of Exeter.

In his new role, he will use his technical expertise to help customers enhance the sustainability credentials of concrete specifications and emphasize the use of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (ggbs) as a sustainable cement replacement product.

‘This role is an opportunity to gain knowledge of both the commercial and technical side of the business, and will allow me to play to my strengths and utilize my knowledge in minerals and chemistry,’ he said.
