Lafarge Tarmac appoint new MD of Building Products

Mark Joel takes charge of newly acquired business with its 46 operational sites and 800 employees

LAFARGE Tarmac have appointed Mark Joel as managing director of their Building Products business. The firm acquired Tarmac Building Products – a UK leader in heavy building products – in April this year.

Mr Joel, who was previously group director of strategy and business performance for Lafarge Tarmac, will oversee Building Products’ 46 operational sites and 800 employees.  

Prior to his role within Lafarge Tarmac, Mr Joel held senior roles at Tarmac, including heading up the company’s UK aggregates, asphalt, and ready-mixed concrete businesses.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Joel said: ‘It’s an exciting and dynamic time for Lafarge Tarmac. The acquisition of Tarmac Building Products expands our offer and opens up new opportunities for us, particularly in the house-building sector.’
