Scottish plant hirer takes delivery of five Cat 320EL hydraulic excavators to meet customer demand

AYRSHIRE-based Blackwood Plant Hire, one of Scotland’s biggest plant hirers, have taken delivery of five new Cat 320EL hydraulic excavators from Finning to help meet customer demand.

The Cat C6.6 ACERT-powered 320EL machines have joined five other Cat 320ELs that were ordered last year, to meet increasing demand from customers keen to benefit from the fuel-saving features of the Cat 320EL. The new order has increased Blackwood Plant Hire’s Cat fleet to 21 machines.

Commenting on the purchase, company owner Tom Blackwood said: ‘We initially ordered five Cat 320ELs last year and feedback from our customers highlighted how well the machine performs in terms of both economy and productivity.

‘It’s important that we’re able to offer our customers end-to-end equipment solutions that meet business and operational needs, so with the order for five more Cat 320ELs, we’re able to carry on providing machinery to our customers that helps them to save money.

‘Our customers are interested in economic performance and how easy the equipment is to use, so they look to us to provide value-added opportunities. Each machine will feature the Finsight condition-monitoring solution, which will allow our customers to benefit from Finning’s back-up support and minimize machine downtime.’

Finsight – the proactive repair-analysis tool from Finning – is manned by a team of dedicated advisors who will constantly monitor and to analyse the performance of the five Cat 320ELs. This includes monitoring fuel consumption, idle and operational time and live diagnostic alerts, which can identify any potential issues that may affect the performance of the machine.
