Welding developments from GYS

GYS TIG 207

French welding equipment and battery charger manufacturers GYS are offering a high-specification TIG welding machine that can operates on 110V and 240V. The TIG 207 AC/DC FV also has an optional water cooling unit.

The machine features a microprocessor-controlled digital panel that simplifies the process of selecting the correct welding parameters and has five memory settings. Designed to weld aluminium, steel and stainless steel, it has a maximum output of 200A (AC) and can operate at maximum power on a 13A supply on 240V.

The optional water cooling unit quickly and easily turns the TIG 207 into a liquid-cooled TIG welder. Simple to use, the unit is compatible with all types of automotive coolants, while security valves prevent leakage when the torch is disconnected.

The TIG 207 AC/DC FV benefits from GYS’s advanced ‘green’ technology PFC (Power Factor Correction) and FV (flexible voltage), allowing the machine to work on any power supply from 85V–265V and making it suitable for use on generators and long extension leads, including 110V.

Welding on 110V

GYS have also upgraded the specification of their 110V MMA/Stick welding machine.

Formerly known as the Gysmi 196 FV, the new and improved machine has been renamed the Gysmi 206 FV.

Popular with welders for on-site welding applications, the Gysmi 206 FV is capable of welding on 110V or 240V and offers advanced performance thanks to its FV and PFC technology.

On 110V the unit is capable of comfortably welding 3.2mm electrode on 50m extension leads or longer, and is also suitable for use with generators. The new machine’s output has now increased from 160A to 200A and larger 35/50mm dinse plugs have been fitted. Its advanced electronics also permit effective welding performance on 240V, with the capability to weld 4mm electrode on a regular 13A power supply.

Auto adjust welding helmets

GYS have also launched two new welding helmets with auto-darkening features. The Master LCD 11 and Master 9–13 LCD automatically switch from clear to dark as soon as the arc is formed and return to light when the arc stops.

Featuring an auto-electro optical filter, the Master helmets offer the welder time-saving opportunities, with reaction times from just 0.0001 seconds.

Both helmets are suitable for MMA, MIG and TIG welding operating from 25A. The Master LCD 11 helmet has a welding shade of 11, and operates from 25A up to 175A. The Master 9–13 LCD has an adjustable welding shade of 9–13 and will work from 25A up to 400A.

Finally, GYS have announced their expansion into Scotland and Northern Ireland with the appointment of  Stuart Leach as area sales manager for these regions. Known by many in the industry from his time with Britool, Beta Tools, and AST, Mr Leach brings with him a great deal of experience working with distributors in both Scotland and Northern Ireland.
