WCA appoints two new joint chairmen

Cui Xingtai and Vincent Lefebvre appointed as co-chairmen of World Cement Association 

THE World Cement Association have announced the appointments of Cui Xingtai and Vincent Lefebvre as its new joint chairmen.

Mr Cui, chairman of China United Cement Company (CUCC), has a wealth of knowledge across the Chinese building materials sector. CUCC are at the forefront in building vertically integrated cement enterprises in China and have an annual capacity of 120 million tonnes of cement, 200 million cubic metres of concrete and 100 million tonnes of aggregates.

 

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Cui said: ‘WCA supports a sustainable cement industry; encouraging technical development, promoting best practices to achieve full decarbonization and providing practical help to members to accelerate their progress. believe that CUCC can contribute to this vision and will also benefit from their membership and active participation in WCA.’

Mr Lefebvre (pictured), chairman and founder of Cem’In’Eu, has dual experience as an international group executive with Holcim and start-up founder, as well as knowledge of markets and innovation, offering a valuable contribution to the WCA’s board.

‘I am proud to be associated with WCA, which is committed to giving all corporate members the same rights, whether large or small, whether from emerging economies or developed countries, and which provides practical help to improve the industry’s environmental performance,’ said Mr Lefebvre.

Commenting on the appointments, Ian Riley, the WCA’s chief executive officer, said: ‘I am delighted that the board has appointed two such distinguished executives as joint chairmen of the Association. Their strong track record as businessmen underlines our commitment to providing practical value-added services to our members.’
