Volvo to showcase next-generation equipment and services

Volvo A60H dumptruck

Wide range of new products, customer support capabilities and machine monitoring technology on display

SHOWCASING a total of 28 machines, including new models and ‘industry-changing’ concept vehicles, Volvo Construction Equipment will be offering visitors to Conexpo-Con/Agg multiple interactive experiences to show how they are pushing boundaries of conventional machine design and technology.

Among the machines on display will be the EC750E excavator, wheel loaders that have never been seen before, and the largest articulated hauler the company has built to date – the A60H. Also making its first public appearance will be the HX02 – a concept battery-electric, fully autonomous load carrier.

The show will also conclude Volvo’s year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the articulated hauler by showcasing a gold-painted A40G articulated hauler, which was recently auctioned by Ritchie Bros.

In addition, a range of new technologies and services will be unveiled, the most notable of which are ActiveCare Direct and Dig Assist. The former is believed to be the industry’s first telematics monitoring service offered at OEM level and supported right across the company’s dealer network.

Volvo have built an uptime centre with an experienced team of analysts capable of proactively monitoring and reporting on customer fleets throughout the US and Canada. The service relieves the burden of sorting through vast quantities of available data and delivers thoughtful analysis and practical recommendations to the customer. An in-booth uptime centre will be available for visitors to interact with telematics experts and see how the system works.

Dig Assist allows the excavator operator to set job parameters (eg target depth and grade), conduct in-field design and view job progress in real time, ensuring the work meets exact specifications. Dig Assist is the latest addition to the suite of Volvo Assist programs — which also includes Compact Assist and Load Assist — providing real-time intelligence to the operator in terms that are easy to understand and directly tied to job quality.

Visitors to the stand will have an opportunity to interact with the Volvo Assist programmes on the Volvo Co-Pilot interface — a scalable, Android-powered tablet computer that was recently named as the ’Most Innovative Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Feature’ at the 2016 Car HMI — Europe’s leading human-machine interface event. Visitors will also get a glimpse of future Volvo Assist Co-Pilot programmes to be rolled out for soil compactors and articulated haulers.
