Volvo pour more chassis into London Concrete

Volvo FM11-370 truck

Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London add to the fleet of the capital’s premier truckmixer operator

WITH one of the best-known fleets of truckmixers working in and around the capital, London Concrete have taken another four Volvo FM11-370 8x4 chassis, with Liebherr eight cubic metre drums, to take their fleet to 86 truckmixers.

The company’s first four FM11 8x4s have been in service for six months and feedback from drivers has been very good, with their performance directly leading to this repeat order.

The only difference between the four new trucks and the first four, is the fitment of Volvo’s I-Shift automated gearbox.

Douglas Antingham, production manager at London Concrete, said: ‘Our drivers are starting to choose Volvo over the other brands we run, and that speaks volumes. In a robust transport sector where any issues need the fastest possible response, service levels have to be 110%, and that’s what we’re getting.

‘All these trucks are on the top-level five-year gold repair and maintenance contract through Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London, and some of our franchised drivers are considering taking the seven-year option. It’s a reflection of the service levels they’re getting.’

London Concrete have 12 depots around London and they have poured for all of the capital’s high-profile contracts, including the 2012 Olympic venues, Wembley stadium and Heathrow’s terminals.

The new Volvo truckmixers will be maintained by the Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Dealerpoints in Hayes, Enfield and Croydon.
