Volvo CE appoint new head of technology

Thomas Bitter to lead development and delivery of the company’s global technology strategy

VOLVO Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) have appointed long-standing employee Thomas Bitter as their new head of technology. Based at the company’s headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, he will report to Volvo CE president Melker Jernberg and be a member of the company’s executive management team.

As senior vice-president of technology, Mr Bitter will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the company’s global technology strategy.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Jernberg said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Thomas to this new role. With his deep product knowledge, cross-functional experience and genuine passion for customers, innovation and sustainability, I know that he will make a strong contribution to advancing Volvo CE’s technological competences at this important time of change in the industry.’

Mr Bitter has been senior vice-president of Volvo CE’s marketing and product portfolio function since 2015. Prior to this he was vice-president of global marketing and before that held a number of customer-facing roles, based in Asia. Before joining Volvo CE, Mr Bitter was responsible for product strategy at Mack Trucks, based in the US, and product manager at Renault Trucks, based in France.
