United Asphalt acquire plants from Aggregate Industries
United Asphalt, a newly created asphalt manufacturing business backed by two of the quarrying industry’s most well-known and experienced businessmen, have acquired two coating plants in the south of England from Aggregate Industries.
Ross Snape, managing director of United Asphalt, and David Tidmarsh, chairman of the company, have purchased the plants in Croydon and Theale. The two plants produce high-quality asphalt, macadam and specialist surfacing products for a variety of end uses ranging from highway construction and maintenance to domestic customers.
Both Mr Snape and Mr Tidmarsh have a wealth of experience in the construction materials sector, having led a number of major businesses over the years.
With United Asphalt set up specifically for this deal, the new company is now one of the largest independent businesses in the UK asphalt market, with an estimated turnover of £12 million.
Commenting on the acquisitions, Ross Snape said: ‘Asphalt users in the south of England will certainly benefit from the increased competition we bring to the market. This is an exciting time to be entering the UK asphalt market, which continues to see significant consolidation.
‘As an independent with an experienced team, we are determined to exceed our customers’ expectations and become their supplier of choice.’
The head office of the new United Asphalt business will be located in Theale, Berkshire.
