UK’s largest driver-operated weighing system

Precia-Molen UK have been awarded a contract to install an automated weighing and loading system for Tarmac Central’s new cement production plant, making it one of the most advanced driver-operated weighing systems in the UK. The new plant at Tunstead Quarry is being constructed by F.L. Smidth and is designed to produce over 800,000 tonnes of cement a year.

The entire system includes 10 state-of-the-art TCI (traffic control integrator) driver-operated consoles and three 18m VS300CS surface-mounted weighbridges. Precia-Molen’s GeneSYS software controls the weighing/loading operation and communicates with Tarmac’s ERP system across a LAN.

The GeneSYS software manages weighing and administration procedures and controls the driver operations from the moment vehicles arrive on site to load materials from the raw material bays or the three silos. The TCI units, which maximize efficiency and allow rapid vehicle throughput, have been configured so that GeneSYS can communicate with the site’s PLC system to allow access to the loading silos and to control the loading process.
