TUV-approved dust-measurement systems
Introduced earlier this year, the Afriso Eurogauge S303 and S305 dust concentration measurement systems are designed for quantitative and qualitative calculation of dust emissions in industries involving the use of dry flue gases.
The TUV-approved devices utilize the ‘triboelectrical’ effect for measurement, whereby particles come into contact with conducting surfaces, which causes a charge transfer between the particles and sensor. This small charge provides a signal from which the system evaluates in a measuring range of 0.1–1,000mg/m3. Both systems have a probe head with integrated electronics (microprocessor, RS 422/485 interface, 4–20mA output and two voltage-free changeover relays) and a 500mm long stainless steel probe rod, which is installed in the gas pipe.
The compact measurement systems, which run on 230V AC , 115V AC or 24V DC, can work to a maximum pressure of two bar and measure in temperatures ranging from –20°C to 300°C. The S303 and S305 are calibrated by means of gravimetric comparison measurements, thus the dew-point difference must be at least +5K.
The measurement range is set up manually for the S303 but is automatic for the S305. Both systems have the same the dimensions and specifications, however the S305 comes with a number of additional features, including PIN code lock, automatic drift compensation, compensation for varying gas speeds, mg/m3 calibration, remote set-up
and data transfer via a RS 422 interface.
