Top tippers

Co. Durham-based Youngs Haulage have chosen Meiller front-end tipping hoists for their fleet of trucks. They operate Scania 41-tonne six-axle artics pulling General Trailers tri-axle tippers for their range of contracts, including hauling over 96% of the coal produced by RJB Mining. Harsh reintroduced the Meiller tipping hoists in 1998 after major product updates which included thicker wall tubing, roller burnished surfaces and deeper overlaps (over 200mm in each section).

Following an underfloor gear being fitted to one of Youngs' early Volvo rigid trucks, every succeeding eight-wheeler in the fleet has continued to be fitted with Harsh products. In recent months Harsh have supplied and fitted over 50 tractor wet kits to new Scanias going into the fleet. All Youngs' Scania artics feature on-board weighing, easy sheets and satellite tracking. The General Trailers tippers include an on-board washing system, saving both time and money when vehicles are switched between different types of load.
