Top-level changes at Aggregate Industries

AGGREGATE Industries have announced the appointment of Bill Bolsover as UK managing director. He will succeed David Tidmarsh who is to become managing director of the company's US operations. Mr Bolsover will take up his appointment and join the board of Aggregate Industries plc on 11 December, and Mr Tidmarsh will take up his appointment on 1 January 2001.

Mr Bolsover joins Aggregate Industries from Tarmac, where he spent the last 25 years in a series of senior management roles. He was chief operating officer of Tarmac Quarry Products Ltd from 1996 and joined the board of Tarmac plc in 1999.

Mr Tidmarsh has been Aggregate Industries' UK managing director since the creation of the company in 1997, following a number of years in various senior management positions within the industry. He succeeds Mike Hayes who will remain an executive director of the company until his retirement at the end of 2001 and will also continue to serve as chairman of the National Aggregates Association, the industry's trade association in the US.

Commenting on the appointments, Aggregate Industries' group chief executive, Peter Tom, said: 'We are delighted to welcome Bill Bolsover to the group. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience which will be invaluable to us as we continue to grow and develop our UK operations.

'I would also like to thank Mike Hayes for the major contribution he has made to the development of our US business and I am pleased that he has agreed to stay with the group until the end of next year to ensure an orderly handover of his responsibilities to David.'
