Tarmac sponsor UK National Parks Conference 2017

UK National Parks

Key figures from UK national parks engage with senior industry leaders at Tarmac-sponsored event

TARMAC have sponsored the 2017 UK National Parks Conference, which was hosted at the South Downs National Park on Friday 27 October.

The theme of the biennial conference was ‘National Parks for the Future’, and the event saw senior figures from all 15 of the UK’s national parks engaging with senior leaders from a variety of businesses from relevant industries.

Stuart Wykes, director of land and natural resources at Tarmac, said: ‘We’ve had an extremely productive and successful time working with the National Parks to understand their priorities and how we can work together in the future.

‘Working collaboratively with such an important group of stakeholders and explaining the significant contribution that quarrying and manufacturing bring to National Parks is crucial for our business. As a custodian of land across the UK, including within National Parks, listening to our stakeholders is absolutely vital.’

Tarmac’s commitment to responsible land stewardship was demonstrated recently during a successful evening at the Mineral Products Association’s Restoration and Biodiversity Awards.

The company received the prestigious Cooper-Heyman Cup for extensive restoration activities at Panshanger Park, in Hertfordshire, and further recognition was given to work at Dry Rigg and Arcow quarries, for the restoration and provision of priority habitats in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
