Tarmac call on suppliers to take up Innovation Challenge

Tarmac Innovation Challenge

Company seeking ideas that will drive innovation and deliver even greater value for customers

TARMAC are calling upon current and potential supply chain partners of all sizes across the UK to share ideas that will help drive innovation and deliver even greater value for customers.

The company wants to encourage greater collaboration with its supply partners and is inviting businesses – from multinationals to SMEs – to make submissions for its new Innovation Challenge. Suppliers can submit their ideas irrespective of whether or not they currently work with Tarmac.

Tarmac say entries should demonstrate how the partner can contribute to innovation, productivity, customer excellence and efficiency in areas including health and safety, business optimization, logistics, sustainability, asset management, and the implementation of new technology.

Speaking at the initiative’s unveiling, Jonathan Harry, Tarmac’s procurement director, said: ‘This scheme is all about unlocking the innovation and added value that can be found across the supply chain.

‘We know from our own experience that greater collaboration is critical in delivering this, and we’re proud to be leading the industry in our approach to working with supply partners.

‘Ultimately, this is about our customers, and how we can work alongside them to deliver on their ambitions and support the use of innovation in UK construction.’

The Innovation Challenge entries will be whittled down to the 20 best ideas. Representatives of these businesses will be invited to pitch and share their ideas with senior stakeholders from Tarmac at an event on 13–14 March 2018.

If taken forward, Tarmac will work with the supplier to support them in bringing their idea to fruition for the benefit of customers and the wider industry.

The deadline for submissions is 15 February and entry is via an online form.
