Stacking in your favour

The stockpiling of crushed and screened aggregate in traditional conical stockpiles can create separation and segregation of aggregates, whereby the larger elements gravitate to the bottom of the stockpile.

Thor Aggregate Equipment of Ontario have developed a new approach to building stockpiles which, they say, gives uniform, homogenous grading throughout the whole stockpile. Marketed by Western Engineering Services, the Telestack is being manufactured under license by Loughside Engineering with full technical support from Thor.

Telestack has been developed to produce a stockpile in a continuous and layered configuration to eliminate the separating effect gravity has on aggregate distribution. The conveyor is fully mobile and looks similar to a traditional radial stockpiling conveyor but features three reciprocating movements. 270o radial movement, 18o raise and lower movement which is controlled by an automatic level probe, giving stockpiles up to 12m high, and an extend and retract feature (from 26m to 42m) using a second integral conveyor, allowing a much wider base to the layered stockpile. By using these features, Telestack can deposit aggregate in a continuous series of short stacks. To reduce wind-blown dust, the level probe maintains the head of the Telestack at a safe minimum working height from the stacked aggregate.

 

Different types and shapes of stockpile can be programmed into the unit to suit various materials. The automatic PLC-controlled system is said to deposit up to 50% more material than standard radial stockpiling conveyors within the same area.
