SpeCC merges with QSRMC

QSRMC Ltd and SpeCC Ltd have announced the merging of the SpeCC Registration Scheme for Specialist Concrete Contractors into the Quality Scheme for Ready Mixed Concrete, with effect from 24 April 2009.

SpeCC Ltd operate the SpeCC Registration Scheme – a quality, environmental and health and safety management system for specialist contractors involved in the construction of concrete-framed buildings, while QSRMC represent the purchasers and producers of ready-mixed concrete.

QSRMC assessors have previously provided the SpeCC assessment services under contract and will continue to carry out the audits of the SpeCC registered contractors, while members of the SpeCC governing board will continue to steer the service as members of a scheme committee within QSRMC and with two seats on the QSRMC governing board.

Commenting on the merger, Henry Webber, chairman of QSRMC, described the new partnership with SpeCC as a logical development for both organizations. ‘By linking the quality management of concrete production and concrete construction there will be gains for all,’ he said.

Prof. Peter Hewlett, chairman of SpeCC, added that the merger would create a combined capability based on a natural synergy that would underwrite future certification activity and offer complimentary opportunities to mutual clients.
