Selwood make second acquisition of 2008

Selwood acquire Proplant Ltd

Selwood have acquired Proplant Ltd, their second acquisition in the last two months.

Proplant, established in 2001, operate in Wales and the West of England with branches located in Cardiff, Swansea, Milford Haven and Bristol. Employing a total of 40 people, Proplant deal in a wide range of general plant together with survey and safety equipment.

Commenting on the acquisition, Selwood’s group managing director, Chris Garrett said: ‘When we knew there was an opportunity to acquire Proplant, Selwood were very keen to be involved in the process. The Proplant business has a very strong brand in Wales and the South West and the combination of our businesses offer some great opportunities to us. We are not reliant on achieving cost savings from the combined operation to make the acquisition successful.’

As part of the transaction Selwood are retaining the services of Glyn Charles and Paul Rowsell, the founders of the Proplant business, and for the rest of the Proplant team it is business as usual.

Chris Garrett continued: ‘Despite the current uncertainty in the market place and following the Glo Hire and Sales transaction this latest acquisition is a statement of our commitment to the UK Plant rental markets as well as to all of our customers.’
