Sandvik enjoy best ever Hillhead 2010

Sandvik mobile crushers and screens made their first appearance at Hillhead as one company following the acquisition of Fintec and Extec in 2007. Hillhead 2010 allowed Sandvik to present their product range, with many old favourites being shown, and the unveiling of some new developments.

The Sandvik mobile crushing and screening operation now presents customers with a product offering that provides solutions for virtually any application, and encompasses a range of businesses areas - surface rock quarrying, excavation, demolition, recycling and civil engineering. The range of mobile machines developed to service these industries includes tracked cones, jaws, and impact crushers. Tracked screens are also available, including triple-deck, double screens, scalpers and three-way-split screens, all available on tracks.

The highlight of Hillhead 2010 from Sandvik’s perspective was the QE440, which received its global launch. The QE440 has been developed to cater for the serious aggregate producer, and to this end boasts 40% more screening area than its predecessor - the QE340. Importantly, the stockpiling conveyors are both wider, and higher, to deal with both the increased production capacity and facilitate larger stockpiles. Punched plate, heavy-duty mesh, rock fingers or grizzly bars can be fitted to the top deck, while heavy-duty mesh or fingers can be fitted to the bottom to match specific application and material requirements. The QE440 comes complete with a more powerful, yet economical engine to power this truly productive machine.

Another new machine from Sandvik, demonstrated for the very first time at Hillhead, was the QI440 HS. This is a heavy-duty, tracked, self-propelled impact crusher with an on-board re-circulating system, double and double-deck screen, to allow two screened products to be produced. The independent pre- screen allows for maximized scalping prior to feed to the impactor, and can produce a screened product from the side conveyor, allowing customers even greater return on their investment through the facility to produce accurately sized products for immediate use.

A new three-way-split tracked screen was also unveiled – the QA331. This is a tracked, robust, highly durable machine, designed specifically for the recycling and contractor market. This three-way-split screener is a development of the QA330, but now comes with improved screening capacity. The QA331 incorporates a 4.27m x 1.52m (14ft x 5ft) two-bearing screen box, with increased screening angle built into the bottom deck of the screen with an additional 5 degree screening angle. This feature, coupled with the larger screening surface area and increased throw on the screen box, enhances screening efficiency and capacity through the actual screen box itself.

The three new products shown at Hillhead have been developed over the last two years by Sandvik’s research and development programme, representing the union of Sandvik’s recently acquired mobile crusher and screen expertize with Sandvik materials technology and manufacturing excellence. Purpose designed to process a variety of materials they have been designed with mobility, productivity, transportability, minimal environmental impact and user friendliness at their core.
