Safe transportation of detonators

"AIGIS Ltd, specialists in blast protection, have gained official approval for their latest product — the DCU 520 — for the safe transportation and storage of detonators."

"The UN hazard classification system governs the conditions under which explosives, pyrotechnics and munitions are handled. Detonators are given the highest classification and with it is a direct link to costs for storage and movement. The DCU 520 is based on the NATO H83 ammunition box and with its Tabre blast-mitigating modifications has gained a 1.4S UN hazard classification for 18 detonators, moving from the top of the scale to the bottom."

The unit was developed and independently tested using the British military L2A1 electric detonator. The translation of these results to other detonator types will be arranged under the auspices of the appropriate UN-designated ‘competent authorities’.
