RoSPA Bronze Award for EPC-UK

RoSPA Bronze

Commercial explosives manufacturer receives coveted award for health and safety practices

EPC-UK, specialists in the manufacture, storage and distribution of commercial explosives, have been presented with a prestigious award in recognition of their health and safety practices and achievements.

The company has received a Bronze honour in the internationally renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK, which recognizes achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Bob Woolley, EPC-UK’s safety, health, environmental and quality manager, said: ‘The health and safety of our employees, visitors and contractors is our number one priority. Working in a high-risk industry, it is imperative that we have the processes and procedures in place to mitigate risks associated with blasting and explosives.

‘It is fantastic that our dedication to providing a safe and secure environment for our staff has been recognized by our peers, and it is an honour to accept this award.’

EPC-UK’s ongoing commitment to health and safety is led by the company’s managing director, Ben Williams, whose dedication to maintaining the highest levels of safety has led him to become a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) – an unusual accolade for a non-safety professional.

This approach is reflected throughout the company, with all managers being at least NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) qualified, providing yet another tier of health and safety ‘leadership’ for EPC-UK employees.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, commented: ‘The RoSPA Awards are the most highly respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year. The awards allow organizations to prove excellence in the workplace and demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of not only employees, but all those who interact with the business.’
