Roseland win waste-minimization award
Roseland Waste Management received a commendation from the Cornwall Waste Mini-mization Award 2000 for showing commitment to continuous environmental improvement through waste minimization. The competition was organized by Groundwork Environmental Business Services. Roseland are members of Groundwork's Payback scheme.
Roseland opened their new materials reclamation facility at Lean Quarry, Horningtops, near Liskeard in January 2000 as part of their strategy for integrated waste management. The site already handles over 15,000 tonnes a year of primarily construction and commercial wastes, of which 75% is diverted from landfill and 31% is recovered for aggregates, metal and timber recycling.
The site is licensed to accept up to 75,000 tonnes of material annually and plans have been submitted to Cornwall County Council to extend its capacity.
