Rising demand for truckmixer driver training

UK Truckmixer Training

Wear Mini Mix say more and more firms are buying into their vision of dedicated driver training

IN 2016 Sunderland-based ready-mixed concrete suppliers Wear Mini Mix Ltd set about ‘shaping the future’ of concrete mixer driver training within the industry by creating the UK’s first and only dedicated driver development CPC course aimed specifically at truckmixer drivers.

Wear Mini Mix say steady progress has been made since then with a growing number of firms buying into their vision of specialist driver training, which is offered and delivered through the company’s training arm, UK Truckmixer Training.

Course designer Mark Cowan said: ‘2017 and was the busiest year to date for our Truckmixer Operator Skills CPC Course. We are currently in the process of delivering the course to all of Breedon Northern’s readymix drivers and, as of January 2018, have had more than 200 drivers attend.

‘Breedon Northern have made a huge commitment by using our course as a means of not only keeping their drivers safe, but to also giving them the information needed to carry out their daily role safely and efficiently. We will also start rolling this out to 1st Mix in the coming months.

‘We have also delivered our course to Tarmac, Euromix, Maen Karne, Wincanton, Eddie Stobart and numerous contract hauliers within the industry, with excellent feedback.

‘Recently, Derek White, Aggregate Industries’ UK concrete fleet manager, attended one of our courses to experience it for himself first hand. He described it as ‘the best CPC course I have attended to date and relevant to the industry’.

‘Now that we are starting to establish our ourselves within the industry, we are currently adding to our portfolio of associate trainers, as 2018 looks set to be even busier,’ said Mr Cowan.

In the attachment below, Mark Cowan sets out why he believes this type of training is essential to the industry.
