Raymond Brown strengthening local community ties
Company welcomes local schoolchildren to its Rookery Farm site as part of community support initiative
RAYMOND Brown have welcomed 150 children from nearby Parkgate and Whiteley Primary Schools to their Rookery Farm recycling facility in Swanwick, Hampshire. The successful visit comprised a tour around the site to help the schoolchildren learn about the importance of preserving the local environment and seeing live aggregates recycling in operation.
All the pupils were gifted with a Raymond Brown goody bag and hi-vis jacket to help keep them safe in the local community.
At Rookery Farm, Raymond Brown have created an education centre for local schoolchildren as part of their Community Matters initiative. The aim of the programme is to provide and support learning opportunities based around recycling and the environment. It covers a range of learning objectives from the Key Stage Two National Curriculum, including geography, science, maths and citizenship.
Local councilor Jonathan Butts, who also joined the visit, commented: ‘I’d like to thank the whole Raymond Brown team at the Rookery Farm recycling facility for a very informative and enjoyable site visit.
‘Clearly, a lot of effort goes into ensuring schoolchildren are safely able to see close at hand how large quantities of materials are recycled, while also having fun and completing their class work. Many thanks for supporting these kinds of learning opportunities for our children; they are important and much appreciated.’
