Rapid pan mixer number five for MixIt Ltd

Rapid pan mixer

Northern Ireland mixer manufacturer is preferred supplier for London-based concrete contractor

RAPID International Ltd, based in Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland, have recently supplied London-based ready-mixed concrete contractors MixIt Ltd with their fifth Rapid pan mixer.

One of the largest and most well known concrete contractors in southern England, MixIt have been servicing domestic and commercial clients for more than 30 years. Their latest concrete mixer, a Rapid R3000 model, has been installed at the company’s headquarters in Bow.

The company claims to be one of the fastest-growing concrete businesses in East London, with four sites in Bow, Barking (producing concrete blocks), Tilbury and Edmonton, and says it has further expansions plans with another two sites in the pipeline.

MixIt’s relationship with Rapid began 22 years ago, when the company purchased a 1 cubic metre Rapid pan mixer for installation in its first batching plant in Bow. This mixer is still in operation today, producing more than 20 cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete per hour.

The company has since gone on to purchase a further four pan mixers – a 4 cubic metre model in 2014, a three cubic metre mixer in 2015, and more recently two further 3 cubic metre pan mixers, including the latest addition.

According to MixIt’s managing director, Jim Taylor, Rapid’s long-standing relationship with the company is due to their excellent technical support, customer service and in-house spare parts. Mr Taylor says he also prefers to deal with Rapid as, in his experience, the support offered is ‘far superior’ to that of Rapid’s European competitors.

‘I’m pleased with the quality of mixers from Rapid. They are simple and effective, with good output levels and produce excellent quality concrete,’ he added.

Referring to the outputs levels achieved by the 3 and 4 cubic metre pan mixers, Mr Taylor said the 4 cubic metre mixer at Barking can produce 120 cubic metres of wet batch per hour, whilst, depending on how they are loaded, the 3 cubic metre pan mixers can produce 96 cubic metres per hour.

Rapid International’s sales and marketing director, Jarlath Gilmore, said: ‘We are delighted that MixIt have again decided to purchase a Rapid pan mixer. It’s been wonderful to witness their growth over the last 22 years, supported by our ability to provide high-quality, reliable mixing solutions.’

Offering outputs ranging from 0.5 to 4.0 cubic metres, the Rapid pan mixer is well suited to the ready-mixed concrete industry. Designed with longevity and low maintenance in mind, the mixer features durable chill cast wear sleeves and paddles, hard-wearing chill cast tiles on the wall and floor, and heavy-duty discharge door mechanisms. The special mixing arm fitment ensures that all materials are kept in constant motion in every direction, to produce a consistent, homogenous mix.

Moreover, the Rapid pan mixer is customizable with the option of up to three hydraulic/pneumatic discharge doors and a wide range of additional optional extras. It also offers easy access for cleaning and maintenance, as well as spring-tensioned mixing arms for safety.
