Quinn upgrade IT and telephony infrastructure

Telephony system

Company invests £340,000 to future-proof its digital network and telephony systems

QUINN Industrial Holdings have invested more than £340,000 in upgrading the network and telephony infrastructure servicing the business in a 12-month project to upgrade the existing systems and improve connectivity across the company’s numerous sites.

The investment has allowed Quinn to future-proof their network, expand Wi-Fi coverage into the warehouses and dispatch areas, and replace their telephony system.

The project follows a number of other investments in software applications across the company, including the Quinn Safety Hub, a new cloud-based fleet-management system, and the company’s new Delivery Hub, which is currently being rolled out.

Commenting on the investment, Paul Melanophy, business change manager, said: ‘It is vital that we have the infrastructure in place to enable us to expand our digital capabilities through a connected workplace so we can continue to improve the way we work across the multiple businesses we operate.

‘The work we’ve completed here will give us immediate benefits of a connected mobile workforce as well as increased speeds generally across the network and has removed single points of failure that were high-risk items for the business. It also gives us greater scope for future development.

‘With the company spread across nine different sites, a project like this requires heavy financial investment as well as significant planning and resourcing, which was supported by our IT partners, Total IT, using technology solutions from Aruba and Mitel.

‘As a progressive and innovative organization, we need to ensure we are in a position to continue developing and enhancing our operations and to improve customer support and technical services into an increasingly sophisticated building sector. This investment will help us to do that.’

The project is in the final stages of completion, with the roll-out of softphone and physical phone end points to be completed by April 2019.
