QPA respond to consultation document

In response to HM Treasury's publication of a consultation document on the objectives of the Government's Sustainability Fund under its aggregates levy package, Simon van der Byl, director general of the QPA, said: 'The QPA will examine the proposals carefully and respond positively to the consultation. The proposals are in fact very similar to those presented to government as part of the QPA's 'New Deal', which was subsequently rejected by the Government. The major omission from this consultation paper is financial; the QPA proposals guaranteed annual funding of at least £25 million for an independently run Sustainability Foundation. It is disappointing the Government has not yet been able to make a long-term financial commitment to its Sustainability Fund.'
