Phoenix trommel screen rises from the ashes

Phoenix 3300 trommel screen

Powerscreen relaunch one of their original equipment lines for the recycling market

POWERSCREEN have announced that they are bringing back the Phoenix range of trommel screens – one of the company’s original equipment lines. The Phoenix range is a collection of trommel machines specifically designed for recycling materials, such as C&D waste, wood chippings, topsoil, compost and green waste.

Through the processes of screening and separation, material is extracted to create recycled saleable products, resulting in increased profits for the customer whilst reducing the impact on the environment.

The Phoenix range includes three trommel screens: the Powerscreen Phoenix 1600, which comes in both tracked and wheeled versions; the mid-sized Phoenix 1200; and the larger flagship Powerscreen Phoenix 3300.

The Phoenix 1600 tracked and wheeled trommel screens have been designed to provide superior fuel efficiency and low operating costs, while reducing emissions and noise levels. With a 4.9m x 1.54m drum, the machine’s screening area is said to be the largest in its class, delivering exceptional production throughput.

The Powerscreen Phoenix 2100 trommel screen has been specially developed to produce high volumes of recycled waste material in a variety of applications. The robust build of the mobile plant and optional features, such as a heavy-duty tipping grid and double-deck vibrating grid, make the Phoenix 2100 one of the most versatile trommels available in the market.

The machine performs particularly well in heavy-duty C&D processing and high-volume compost production. Equipped with a 180-degree swivel fines conveyor, with a 5.7m discharge, the Phoenix 2100 can facilitate massive stockpiles. The swivel feature can also be controlled via a radio remote whilst the machine is in operation, minimizing downtime.

The Powerscreen Phoenix 3300 trommel screen has been engineered to deliver unrivalled production throughput and application flexibility for the end-user. Key features of the plant include: having the largest screening area within the Phoenix range; a 180-degree swivel fines conveyor, with a 5.8m discharge; and a four-wheel drive system featuring high-performance friction grip wheels to turn the trommel drum, giving operators the ability to run bi-directionally.

Powerscreen’s Pulse Intelligence remote-monitoring system is available as an option on the Phoenix equipment range. The telematics system provides comprehensive information on machine performance, eg operating hours, tonnages, fuel consumption, maintenance status etc.

Commenting on the decision to bring back the Phoenix range to the Powerscreen portfolio, Neil Robinson, product manager, said: ‘The global waste-management market is becoming more and more prevalent as government initiatives are geared toward better environmental practices, so it is an ideal time to bring back the Phoenix range with its proven track record in recycling applications.’
