Paviors on Parade

Among the more unusual floats at last November’s Lord Mayor of London Parade was this state-of-the-art Lafarge Contracting paving machine. Around half a million people turned out to see the parade make its way through central London, with millions more viewing it live on TV.

The brand new Lafarge paver — an Ingersoll Rand ABG Titan 473 — was followed by a century-old steam roller towing the float of the Worshipful Company of Paviors. Dating back to the 14th century, the Worshipful Company of Paviors is one of the original City Livery Companies, bringing together road-building professionals for social, educational and charitable functions.

Pictured on the paving machine are Lafarge’s director of contracting, Chris Plant, managing director Dyfrig James, national business director Mike Pert, and paver operators Dave Bygrave and Mick Finch.
