O’DONOVAN Waste Disposal’s commitment to employee learning and development has been recognized at the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management’s (CIWM) Sustainability and Resource Awards 2017.

The family-run firm picked up the Roger Hewitt Learning and Development Award during the ceremony, held at the Grosvenor Square Marriott, in London. These long-standing and well-respected awards are given for outstanding achievement in the sustainability, resource and waste industry.

Judged by the most respected experts in the sector, the awards recognize the highest level of achievement and are entered by UK waste organizations that are passionate about excellence and leadership.

O’Donovan consider staff engagement and education paramount to consistent health and safety within their business. The top-down management style has led to a collaborative and engaged workforce, who all bear safety at the forefront of the mind whether getting behind a wheel or working on the waste picking line.

Company chairman Michael O’Donovan said: ‘We pride ourselves on the quality and effectiveness of our training programmes, which we tailor to each of the job roles at O’Donovan Waste Disposal. Having our efforts recognized with such a prestigious accolade is a real honour.’
