Norbar Torque Tools launch new torque multiplier

Norbar Pneutorque PTM-92-4000

Latest Pneutorque PTM-92-4000 powered torque multiplier replaces the PTM-92-3500 model

NORBAR Torque Tools have announced the launch of their new Pneutorque PTM-92-4000 powered torque multiplier, which replaces the existing PTM-92-3500 model.

Suitable for the opencast coal and quarrying industries where large haul trucks are used, the latest multiplier offers increased torque output from the 92mm gearbox, thanks to a new output carrier manufactured from a high-strength specialist steel.

Philip Brodey, sales & marketing director at Norbar, said: ‘This update will allow us to put an even better product on the market for our customers – especially those maintaining mining haul trucks where large numbers of bolts need tightening.

‘The improved offering demonstrates our commitment to continually provide the very best torque tooling products to the marketplace.’

Operation of the PTM-92-4000 is extremely quiet (less than 85dBA) with no impacting, thereby making it comfortable for the operator to use, reducing fatigue and increasing safety.

As with all Pneutorques, the PTM-92-4000 tool consists of a robust air motor that drives a Norbar multiplier with three or more stages of epicyclic gearing. Torque control is achieved by adjusting the air pressure.

Each tool is supplied with an air pressure versus torque graph and calibration certificate, so that specific torque values can be set.

For more critical applications, Pneutorques can be fitted with a torque transducer with the precise torque output displayed. The tool can then be shut off at the desired torque, either manually or automatically, using suitable control circuitry.

A range of Pneutorque models is available up to 300,000Nm (220,000 foot pounds).
