New wear-protection system

"Strickland Direct are to launch a new wear-protection system which, they say, will reduce wear and costs by considerably extending the life of wheel loader and excavator buckets operating in extreme conditions."

"Available in four formats — Viabutton, Vidablock, Skidblocks and Chokbloks — the castings are made from 700 Brinell hardness (BHN) chrome white iron. By specially bonding the castings to a steel backing plate, they can be easily fitted using standard welding equipment. Viabutton is a low-cost solution to problem wear areas. The four sizes of circular 700BHN domed ‘buttons’ — 75–150mm diameter — can be positioned in high-wear areas as the circular domed shape provides maximum resistance to heavy impact damage."

"Five sizes of Chokblocks can be used to form a mosaic of wear protection to counter highly abrasive applications. All strips are 2,400mm long but widths vary from 40–130mm and thickness can be either 25mm or 29mm. The bar is bonded to a slotted mild steel backing plate so that it can fit slightly convex or concave surfaces."

"Skidblocks are rectangular pads, available in three sizes, that can be used singularly or combined to form a pattern of wear resistance in heavy-duty and extra-heavy-duty applications, eg on the underside of loading shovel buckets. The metallurgical process which bonds the white iron casting to the structural steel backing plate results in a part with a shear strength of 20 tons/in2. Pad sizes range from 200mm x 150mm to 250mm x 250mm."

"Vidablock is designed for mobile equipment or fixed plant. Available in nine lengths, from 75–432mm, and various widths and thicknesses, the system can be used in a combination of lengths for maximum effect."
