New Volvo trucks for Scotts Plant & Haulage

Volvo FMX-420s

Pair of FMX-420 tippers helping to boost growth at Vale of Evesham-based plant and haulage firm

VALE of Evesham-based Scotts Plant & Haulage have put two new Volvo FMX tippers into service to join a 15-strong fleet of rigid tippers at the company’s Badsey Road base.

Supplied by Wales and West Truck and Bus, in Evesham, the two 8x4 Volvo chassis FMX-420s are equipped with day cabs, Volvo D13K engines rated at 420hp and I-Shift automated manual transmission systems.

Scotts Plant & Haulage also opted for Volvo’s top-choice Gold Service Contract for a period of six years. This package allows truck buyers such as Scotts Plant & Haulage to focus on customer service and vehicle productivity.

The FMXs also feature Boweld steel muckaway tipper bodies, powered by Edbro hydraulics. Scotts Plant & Haulage also specified PM Onboard weighing systems, air-operated tipper tailgates and electric sheeting systems.

‘Our tippers do a bit of everything from muckaway to aggregate works, and road planings, recycled materials and topsoil are also carried regularly,’ commented director Scott Witheford.

Around 90% of the company’s tipper work is carried out within a 15-mile radius of base and the company is located close to Wales and West Truck and Bus’ Evesham dealerpoint.

‘The close proximity of our Volvo dealerpoint and our predominately local operations helps to maximize our productivity levels,’ added Mr Witheford.

‘Volvo build a good, reliable, all-round truck. Our FM and FMX models are popular with the drivers, who also highly rate the I-Shift automated manual transmission systems.’
