New tyre-protection chains

With the worldwide shortage of tyres forecast to continue into 2008, there has never been a more important time to protect tyres.

RUD say that using their tyre-protection chains can prolong the life of tyres by three to four times, ensuring minimum downtime, in terms of tyre repairs, and maximum availability of plant and equipment. The company have developed two new stud links — the Protrac X18 and the Guard X18ES — to satisfy increased demand.

The Protrac X18 is designed for wheel loaders, typically on 35/65-33 tyres, operating in soft limestone applications. The profiled stud link is designed to give a denser mesh compared with existing models and results in a 10% weight saving while offering high levels of protection.

The Guard X18ES link is suitable for slag and scrap-handling operations due to its smooth-sided form. This gives the chain self-cleaning properties to prevent material from getting trapped in the chain mesh.

With free initial fitting, chains are closely monitored by RUD’s service team to ensure maximum lifetime and operational effectiveness.
