New top-of-the-range wheel loader from Hyundai

Hyundai have also completed the ‘Dash-7’ update of their six-model HL wheel loader range with the announcement of a new top-of-the-range 30-tonne model, the HL780-7A, to replace the previous HL780-3A. The machine made its European debut at Intermat 2006.

Powered by the latest high-performance 11-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged Cummins QSM11-C engine, rated at 259kW (347hp), the machine meets the latest Tier 3A emissions and noise level standards. This, together with a lower engine speed of 2,000 rev/min, provides improved fuel consumption.

Among the HL780-7A’s many new features are some operator-friendly options such as joystick steering, ride-control and a dual brake-pedal arrangement. As well as operator comfort, serviceability has also been improved with wide-opening access panels giving easy access to all major components and provision for plug-in laptop-PC diagnosis of all hydraulic and operating functions, in addition to an in-cab diagnostic display for the operator. There is also the option of a reversible fan to facilitate maintenance of the radiator and coolers.

With a range of heavy-duty buckets up to 5.1m3 capacity, the machine is designed for high-output, front-line production in the quarrying and construction industries. With a load-over height of 3.4m, it is suitable for loading large dumptrucks up to 80 tonnes capacity, and for direct loading of high-sided crushers. It has an all-wheel wet-brake system and a standard tyre size of 29.5R25 in a variety of different patterns.

With six basic models, Hyundai’s range of wheel loaders now extends from the 10-tonne HL730-7 up to the new 30-tonne machine, together with a number of special-application models, such as the TM (Tool Master) parallel-lift material handler, and XTD machines with extended lift arms.
