New remote monitoring device from DEUTZ

DEUTZ have unveiled a new telematics system for the remote monitoring of engines and fleets.

The monitoring and diagnostics device, believed to be a first from an industrial engine manufacturer, uses satellite-tracking technology to send engine and machine data to a central server that can be accessed by DEUTZ customers.

Information can be read and evaluated on any PC with Internet access, and the telematics system can send warning messages to the user’s PC whenever the fuel, oil and coolant levels reach minimum levels.

DEUTZ say using their remote monitoring device should reduce downtime in engines and equipment, as operators will be kept informed of the condition of their engines, allowing maintenance schedules to be planned and adjusted to suit usage requirements.

‘By constantly monitoring the capacity, utilization and availability of their machines, customers can identify excess capacities and improve the efficiency of their fleets,’ said Mike Nugent, DEUTZ UK general manager – aftersales.

‘Our telematic system is easy to install and can be adapted to meet the customers’ specific needs. It is also compatible with non-DEUTZ engines, with various models available.’

To combat the theft of machinery, the monitoring system includes a ‘geofencing’ protection feature that allows users to select the operating range of their equipment. If the limit is exceeded, a warning signal is emitted or a text message is sent to the owner.
