New PowerCore dust-collection technology

DONALDSON Filtration Solutions say the introduction of PowerCore, their latest technology for industrial dust collection, will make large-volume dust collectors with bag filters a thing of the past.

In comparison with conventional dust collectors, Donaldson Torit DCE units using the new PowerCore technology are up to 70% smaller. To highlight this improvement, Donaldson say that where a dust-collection unit equipped with 81 bag filters, each measuring 2.4m in length, might have been used in the past, today only 12 PowerCore filter packs would be required.

According to Donaldson, who also specialize in intake filters for compressors and heavy-duty vehicles, the company has been able to make use of the experience gained in this application area and transfer it to their dust-collection technology operations.

Incorporating the latest findings of filter media manufacturing, the rounded shape of the PowerCore filter packs in conjunction with patented Ultra-Web nanofibre filter media technology allows a greater dust load to be collected on the surface of the media flutes.

This high surface performance combined with a patented pulse cleaning technology, say Donaldson, is what leads to the overall performance increase, in the smallest spaces, at the lowest pressure drop and with minimized energy input.
