New MD at United Plant Services

Greg Mulhearn

Greg Mulhearn appointed as managing director of independent asset maintenance provider

UNITED Plant Services, a leading independent asset maintenance provider, have announced the appointment of Greg Mulhearn as managing director. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and business acumen, having worked in the mining, quarrying and construction industry for more than 30 years.

A mechanical engineer by trade, Mr Mulhearn joined Finning UK in 1987. His career at Finning spanned 19 years, working across both sales and operations, including an international role.

In 2006 he joined Briggs Equipment as sales and marketing director, before returning to Finning UK. Mr Mulhearn then joined Komatsu and subsequently Babcock International, where he was responsible for the asset-management strategy within the mining and construction division.

‘My decision to join United Plant was a natural one, with a personal desire to utilize my experience. The change from a corporate to a privately owned company with a desire for growth, also appealed to me as a new challenge,’ he explained.

‘Since joining as managing director the business has gone through a phase of review and consolidation. The review period has allowed me, together with the management team, to begin our journey and to develop a five-year growth strategy.’

Although at the start of their journey, Mr Mulhearn and his team have implemented national processes and a national structure to help drive growth. Essential to the delivery of the strategy are the United Plant employees.

‘All our people are instrumental to the successful future of United Plant and support across the business and our engineering team has been very positive, as we start to make improvements across our operation,’ continued Mr Mulhearn. ‘We are also further enhancing our safety strategy as we continue to ensure safety best practice both for our staff and our customers.’

Going forward, United Plant Services, who service and maintain heavy mechanical equipment, plan to grow their engineer base across the UK, in a drive to become the leading choice as a service provider.

‘We are in a unique position, with the ability to provide an independent national asset-management service to customers with any brand or type of machine. And with our five-year growth strategy now in place, we can ensure we are providing the services our customers need,’ said Mr Mulhearn.
