New light tower from Doosan Portable Power

Doosan 50Hz light tower

LightSource Compact 50Hz portable light tower developed for the Middle East and Africa markets

DOOSAN Portable Power have launched a new 50Hz version of their LSC (LightSource Compact) portable light tower for the Middle Eastern and African markets. Designed for reliability and durability, the LSC light tower – also available as a 60Hz model – is suitable for all general construction applications, as well as providing lighting for mining and quarrying locations.

The light tower has a new power train based around the Kubota D1005 water-cooled diesel engine, providing 8.5kW at 1,500 rev/min (1,800 rev/min for the 60Hz version) and meeting EPA Tier 4 final emission regulations. The power rating of the LSC light tower has been increased to 6kW, thanks to a high-output alternator.

The additional power allows operators to fully utilize the light tower’s four 1,000W metal-halide floodlights at the same time as using the unit’s receptacle power function, while the fuel tank capacity allows an extended runtime of 64 hours (55 hours for the 60Hz version).

The compact frame maximizes transport on trucks, as 12 fully assembled units can be accommodated on a standard 48ft flatbed trailer. The enclosure is designed for convenient access to the control panel. A small door on one side of the unit allows operators to access the controls without having to open the entire side panel, while integrated hinges have been added to the other side of the light tower to provide easy access to all interior general maintenance components.

The floodlights provide a NEMA 6 x 7 beam spread for broad light distribution, while the cast-aluminium fixture housing includes a reflector for optimal light distribution over a wide area.

In common with all light towers in the Doosan range, the heavy-duty galvanized steel mast on the light tower extends from 3.6m to 9m (12 to 30ft) in height. The mast is raised by dual hand-operated winches and features an automatic safety brake. At full mast extension and with all four outriggers/jacks secured, the unit will withstand winds of up to 105km/h.

Options available for the LSC light tower include: a block heater and a combination hitch with a 2.5 inch pintle eye and 2in ball.
